Juana is 60 years old and comes from the Shipibo community of Pauyan and is the main Maestra we work with. She has been studying as a maestra for more than 30 years. Juana is the cousin and primary apprentice of Manuela Mahua and has dedicated herself to the path of healing through her commitment of many years of dieta. Her main dieta has been with the tree, Noya Rao (Palo Valodora) which she began dieting many years ago. This lineage of healers are known and respected as some of the most powerful curanderos/as of the Shipibo tradition and of the Amazon region as a whole.Juana is also known for her incredible knowledge of the body. As a Sobadora, she also specializes in massage and bone setting, a healing art that is very rare these days. We have watched her cure many people of life-long physical ailments and we feel incredibly blessed to be working with a healer like Juana who is so skilled in multiple areas of her tradition. She has 5 children and holds a joyful, child-like spirit.Juana is very happy to share her knowledge and healing with our retreats, and we feel deeply honored to have the opportunity to work with this real wisdom keeper.
